Mating splines of the OEM transfer case diff coupler and side gear coupler are prone to accelerated wear from corrosion exposure. This causes contamination and severe wear to the mating teeth. Since Mitsubishi ceased Lancer production in 2016 sourcing good transfer case assemblies have became increasingly difficult. 

 

The DMS-5379 is manufactured from billet high-strength allow steel with additional spline hardening not offered by anybody else. Every piece arrives PRE ASSEMBLED with a new tapered roller bearing and internal seals not offered from the factory. For SST customers this can be purchased along side of DMS-7701 Side gear kit to replace both interfering elements.
